چکیده
Abstract Bacterial carbapenem resistance, especially when mediated by transferable carbapenemases, is of important public health concern. An increased number metallo-β-lactamase (MBL)-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae strains isolated in a tertiary hospital Thessaloniki, Greece, called for further genetic investigation. The study included 29 non-repetitive resistant K. isolates phenotypically characterized as MBL-producers collected Greece. were screened the detection carbapenemase genes ( bla KPC ), Verona-integron-encoded MBL-1 VIM-1 imipenemase IMP oxacillinase-48 OXA-48 ) and New Delhi MBL NDM )). relationship was determined Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis. whole genome sequences (WGS) from two NDM-positive characterized. presence gene confirmed all isolates, while co-detected one respectively. RAPD analysis showed that clustered into groups. sequence revealed they belonged to type 11, carried NDM-1 gene, exhibited differences plasmids genes. All MBL-producing harbored WGS diversity resistance Continuous surveillance needed detect emergence new clones setting, application antimicrobial stewardship only way reduce spread multi-resistant bacteria.

متن کاملDetection of NDM-1-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae in Kenya.
Seven carbapenem-resistant NDM-1-positive Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates were recovered from patients hospitalized between 2007 and 2009 in different wards at a referral and tertiary care center in Nairobi. Most of the isolates were obtained from urine. All isolates carried the bla(NDM-1) carbapenemase gene previously reported from India, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom. These isolates were cl...

BACKGROUND The resistance of aminoglycosides in strains that produce beta-lactamase can be developed through the multidrug resistant encoding genes carried by common plasmids. Recently, the association between 16S rRNA methyltransferase resistance and beta-lactamase enzymes carried by the same plasmids has drawn increased attention from researchers, particularly the association in aminoglycosid...
متن کاملMicrobiological and molecular characteristics of carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae endemic in a tertiary Greek hospital during 2004-2010.
We report 570 carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae (CPKP) clinical isolates in a 1,040-bed Greek tertiary hospital during 2004 to 2010. The first CPKP (VIM-producing) was isolated in September 2004. Despite initial containment, VIM producers have become endemic since 2006. KPC-producing K. pneumoniae was first isolated in August 2007 from a patient who came from Israel, spread rapidly,...
